My Vivitar 650-1300mm lens arrived yesterday and I have been out today trying it out. It is a fairly heavy lens, as I expected it would be, so be prepared for that.
If your camera is equipped with "mirror lockup," USE IT! I also recommend a remote shutter release. Any vibration at all with this lens will cause your shot to be blurry.
Lens feels solid and well built. Canon EOS T-mount Adapter that came with it (I use it on my Canon T2i) feels slightly loose, but works well.
Manual focusing will take a bit of practice to get the great sharpness but I am working on that. Have also just ordered the 95mm Sigma UV filter for it, as well as a Ravelli APGL3 Professional Three Axis Head Camera Video Photo Tripod with Dual Quick Release Plates and Carry Bag. Sounds solid enough to handle this lens...my lighter weight tripods just didn't cut it! I have not yet tried using the 2x teleconverter that came with the lens...waiting for the stronger tripod.
All in all I think I'll really like this lens. Will add comments again later after I get to use it more.
